Do chickens have bacteria? Where do they come from?
Guide for Every Home
Enjoy Safe and Healthy Chicken
Welcome to the world of healthy and safe cooking! Did you know that raw chicken, like all types of meat, harbors bacteria? As long as these bacteria are below a certain concentration, they are completely safe for our health. At MIMIKOS, we ensure that our chickens have very low levels of bacteria during packaging. However, it's important to handle chicken properly; otherwise, it could lead to problems!
Let's start with a simple yet crucial tip: Never leave chicken at room temperature for more than one hour. Temperatures above 4 degrees Celsius are ideal for bacterial growth, which we want to avoid. Of course, the higher the temperatures, the faster the bacteria multiply.
Remember, freezing does not kill bacteria; it merely inhibits their growth. If you don’t plan to use the chicken by its expiration date, freeze it immediately after purchase.
The only way to ensure that pathogenic bacteria are eliminated is through proper cooking. So, don't forget to cook your chicken to the right temperature to safely enjoy every bite. Chicken should always be thoroughly cooked.
Be cautious of cross-contamination! Chicken bacteria are destroyed through cooking temperatures, but be careful not to accidentally contaminate foods that are consumed raw, such as salad vegetables. Such cross-contamination can happen either through direct contact with raw chicken or through shared cutting surfaces. Let’s follow a simple rule: thoroughly clean anything that comes into contact with raw chicken, whether it's knives, cutting boards, or our hands. It’s also a good idea to have a separate cutting board for raw chicken and another for cooked meats or salads.
With these simple guidelines, we’re confident you will enjoy your chicken safely and deliciously.

TIPS FOR THE SAFE USE AND STORAGE OF CHICKEN
Welcome to our guide to enjoying your chicken safely and confidently! Here you will find simple and easy tips to ensure that the chicken you choose and cook is not only delicious but also completely safe for you and your family.
From the Store to Home
-
Strategic Shopping: Choose chicken as your last item before heading to the checkout. Make sure the packaging feels cold to the touch, indicating it has been properly stored.
-
Careful Transportation: Place the chicken in a cool spot in your car while driving home, especially during hot months. Avoid the trunk where temperatures can rise dangerously.
At Home:
-
Immediate Refrigeration: Once you arrive home, place the chicken in the refrigerator immediately at a temperature below 4°C (40°F). This helps keep it fresh and safe until you are ready to use it.
-
Freezing: If you don’t plan to cook the chicken soon, freeze it before the expiration date. Remember, spoilage only stops when the chicken reaches -18°C (0°F), a process that takes time in a home freezer.
With these simple yet essential tips, you’re ready to enjoy your chicken with maximum safety, ensuring that every meal is not only delicious but also healthy.
